The GaLwood Partnership Agreement was originally developed primarily by Georges Rosenmann with the close collaboration of Lois Kertesz. What you see here is the culmination of ten plus years of creativity, testing, modifying, retesting, etc.
It all started back around August, 2005, after Lois and I first started playing together. We "discovered" that trying to learn a complicated system, without solid explanations, at most steps, just didn't seem to work for us - complex was hard enough, thank you very much, but, without good explanations, it became frustrating and nearly impossible.
So, "we" - and I guess it was more at my own urging - decided to try and build our own partnership agreement. Little did we know how huge and ambitious this was going to be. Some might even say it was presumptuous. Yet, we had faith. At first, it was mostly an exercise for the fun of it. Then it became more serious. Finally, it became a full fledged effort and commitment. Now, after telwve years of mental blood, sweat, tears, and various levels of frustrations now and then, we believe we have come up with a sound, solid and very efficient partnership agreement.
We are rather proud of our accomplishment. It has been an interesting process to say the least, quite educational in nature, and very satisfying. There is one other person to whom we must give much deserved credit. This person is Benjamin Beever, a British expert, who has provided much in the way of critiques, pointing out flaws, and making me solve challenges. Ben's assistance has been invaluable in cutting down development time, by a bunch! So, thank you, Ben, so very much!
Now, whether or not we've built a better mousetrap remains to be determined. Just the same, we do believe that we've built a rather interesting one, with many new features and efficiencies which outperform most anything out there.
GaLwood is designed to be used by novices, intermediates, advanced players and even experts. It is a partnership agreement which provides better, more accurate bidding with greater speed than most anything out there. It provides a set of pretty accurate bids, thought out responses, good explanations and many options. Players can use GaLwood's structure just by itself, and then, if they so wish, they can opt to add their own favorite conventions and/or gadgets with very few adjustments.
