The weak(er) 1N opening bid
Like Precision and other systems similar to Acol, GaLwood uses both the weak(er) 13-15 HCP NT opening,
as well as the strong 17-20 HCP opening.
In addition, these NT bids also show both majors: 44, 45, 54 or 55 distribution
in the majors.

The
1H & 1S opening bids
These two opening bids are used to show a 5 card major, 7 cards if immediately
rebid.

The
1D opening bid
The 1D opening bid may show a 2+ card suit, with 12-20 HCP, denying any 5+CM and both majors.
Opener may yet have a 13-16 or 17-20 HCP balanced hand.

The
1C opening bid
The 1C opening bid is GaLwood's most interesting and abundant feature! It is the lynchpin of the entire
system. It is the only 1-level bid which is ABSOLUTELY FORCING. Responder MUST ensure that opener has a second bid! From this second bid, opener is able to show, distinctly. many different shapes and HCP.
With a puppet response
of 1D, opener can show a 6 card major, 8+ cards if immediately rebid. Opener need not rebid the major at
the 2-level, as is the case in most systems.

This bid is a strong NT opening bid, showing 21-23 HCP and both majors (44, 45, 54 or 55).
