A new era in bridge bidding & partnership agreements
Using 2/1 with GaLwood is extremely easy and simple!  No, really!  Just read on!

First of all, the 1H and 1S opening bids both show a 5 card major, and, if opener rebids the suit, then it's a 7 card major.  There are no other options or possibilities from these two opening bids.  NONE.  (Unless you intend to use other GaLwood features such as 1H/1S followed by NT - NIL, in which case, the sequence would show a 5CM, 5332 type shape/distribution and 13-15 HCP.  <smiles>)

Both the 1H and 1S opening bids guarantee a 5CM, with the possibility of a 7CM if opener immediately rebids the suit.  So, using GW, opener can now show a 7 card major with opening points at only the 2nd level.

From this point on, everything can be the same as in 2/1 system.  You can still use J2NT, Bergen or Reverse Bergen raises, forcing 1N responses, etc., etc., etc.!

Now, there are the possibilities of 6 and 8+ card majors. Those are covered by opener bidding 1C first and then immediately bidding a major.  These sequences - 1C followed by 1H or 1S indicate a 6 card major and any immediate rebids of the major indicate an 8+ card major.  Although these sequences are helped by responder bidding a non-committal 1D, a 1N response does not alter anything.  Opener simply bids his/her major, at the 2 level, showing a 6 or 8+ card major, with the odds being very likely that it is only a 6 card major since 8+ card majors are rare.   Even if opener has to go to the 3 level, something unusual, he/she still shows a rather shapely hand with an 8+ card major and opening points.

Should responder bid 1D instead of 1N, then opener would be able to show an 8+ card major with opening points, with only one rebid, most likely ONLY at the 2 level!  The 1D response is a special waiting bid, not committing responder to anything, but ensuring that opener has a second bid.

So, again, the claim is made that GaLwood is a prologue to 2/1, easily adaptable and extremely flexible so that players who wish to use their own gadgets, etc., can still do so, but with better and quicker information.

Eventually, perhaps in later 2016, we will include a 2/1 Full Disclosure Convention Card for use on BBO. At the moment, there is no such effort being made. Of course, there will be divergent discussions and critiques based on the "flavor" offered as there are a few different versions of 2/1 out there.
